Goldhofer AG is an internationally active transport company that specializes in the planning and implementation of difficult transport tasks and special transport solutions. As standard trailers cannot be used for particularly bulky and long transport goods, very special trailers are coupled to the articulated lorries. In this case, several wind turbine blades, which can reach up to 70 meters in length, were to be transported safely to their destination on the trailer. In order to allow these enormous dimensions, a flexibly adjustable trailer had to be realized. The solution: a 5-fold telescopic system that can be extended or retracted to the required length depending on the transport task.
Once designed, the guidance of the large number of cables also posed a major challenge in terms of realization. For the energy supply from the articulated lorry to the rear of the trailer, the system had to be able to reliably follow the up to 70 meter long journey, robust and safely allow the heavy cable package consisting of numerous cables for the energy supply.

With the concept in mind, the planners set about looking for a suitable cable concept for the realization. The choice fell on our E4 series plastic-e-chain. To be more precise, three pieces of this particularly robust e-chain generation were used. Distributed along the entire length of the trailer, they not only safely carry out the long journey. They also offer significantly more space for the large number of heavy cables that would otherwise not have found a place inside the telescope. Particularly desirable side effects are the pleasantly quiet running of the modular chain system, the low vibration, which enables stable and safe running, as well as its easy handling during cable insertion and installation. The end result: the safe transport of the oversized wind blades can now be guaranteed by a reliable cable routing concept - over a length of 70 meters from the tractor unit to the rear of the trailer.
