Locking mechanism for refrigerated counters

When shopping, the key to success is a positive shopping experience. Customers have ever higher expectations in terms of conformity and supermarket equipment. In addition, new challenges, such as optimizing energy efficiency and the commitment to strengthening the environment, must be mastered.

Refrigerated counters are among the most frequently used refrigeration appliances in food retailing. The refrigeration of the counter, the organization of the products and the locking system should function perfectly in order to create a positive shopping experience. The Italian company Cisaplast has set itself the task of developing a refrigerated counter that closes automatically. The components used in the locking system had to fulfil the most diverse requirements.

Various igus® components have proven their worth in solving the corresponding requirements. The parts installed in the locking system of the refrigerated counter had to be durable, require no lubrication or maintenance and be lightweight.

Dryspin screw drives were therefore used for opening and closing. These were driven by a drylin® stepper motor. The screw nut is made of the high-performance polymer iglide® J and is therefore lubrication and maintenance-free. The low temperature ranges pose no challenge for the material. Low friction of the screw drives and quiet, vibration-free running were further deciding factors.

With the help of the dryspin® screw drives and the matching stepper motor, a solution was found to make opening and closing the refrigerated counters as convenient as possible for customers.
