Whether fresh air from the air conditioning system or the cooling of important electronics - a constant supply of air must be guaranteed and regulated in express trains and trams. Pressure protection devices and ventilation flaps can be moved smoothly with the help of various igus products. No matter which technology is used to control the louvres, igus components make their bearings maintenance-free and additional lubricants superfluous. The load on the slats on the roof or under the car body is particularly high due to weather and dirt. With igus products, long service lives can still be achieved in this application.

iglidur plain bearings, 3D-printed gears, igubal spherical plain bearings and lead screws as well as tribotape are used. In all products, iglidur high-performance polymers are used at the crucial points, which are subjected to extensive friction and wear tests in the test laboratory. They contain incorporated solid lubricants and therefore require no additional lubricants. These components therefore minimise maintenance requirements and prevent dirt from adhering to the bearing points. Even demanding weather conditions are no obstacle.

Metal gears can be replaced by 3D printed plastic gears. These are manufactured using the selective laser sintering process and are characterised by their particularly high wear resistance and cost-effective production. The shape and size of the gear can be customised.
