Q3E: The Heavy-Duty Multi-Component Bearing
What is iglide® Q3E?
iglide® Q3E is a multi-material, heavy-duty bearing designed as a middle-ground between iglide Q2 and igutex® bearings.
The excellent tribological properties of iglide Q3 stem from the high-strength jacket in this iglide® multi-component bearing. The combination of iglide Q3 and strong 2K molding result in an extremely robust and durable bearing.
These bearings also have low wear combined with high resistance to mechanical loads, able to withstand loads of up to 19,580 PSI. Q3E offers reduced wear rates and better swelling loads and edge loads compared to other iglide materials, making it an ideal solution for heavy-duty applications that cannot be solved with our standard injection-molded bearings.
Q3E Material Breakdown
As with all iglide injection-molded bearings, iglide Q3E is made up of base polymers, fibers that increase mechanical strength, and solid lubricants as an inner layer.
The factor that sets Q3E apart from other iglide materials is the addition of 2K molding, which further improves the mechanical strength of the bearing. The 2K molding serves as a high-strength outer jacket that makes Q3E even tougher than the rest of our iglide bearings while still remaining cost-effective compared to alternative solutions.
For extremely tough and durable polymer bearings that don’t break the bank, iglide Q3E is the top choice.
Q3E vs. igutex and Q2
Among igus’® array of heavy-duty bearings, what makes Q3E stand out?
iglide Q3E is the perfect middle ground when it comes to durability and cost efficiency. For example, it is much stronger than iglide Q2, with comparably lower wear rates. However, it is not as strong as our igutex bearings, and therefore it is comparably more cost-effective.
If you need a polymer bearing that is significantly stronger than our traditional iglide® bearings, but don't necessarily need the level of strength that igutex® provides, iglide® Q3E may be the best option for your application.
