G2: High accuracy & low-clearance

Plastics are often particularly prone to expansion under the influence of temperature and humidity, which is why a certain bearing clearance is required to compensate for this in bearing applications. Without this compensation, the shaft would jam in the bearing in some applications, which can usually result in damage to the bearing or even surrounding equipment.

As not all plastics are subject to the same expansion, there are various fits within the iglidur dimensional range of over 3,000 dimensions, ranging from D11 to E10 to F10. These fits are achieved by press-fitting them into a housing bore with H7 tolerance and are suitable for most plain bearing applications in combination with a shaft with a H9 tolerance.

However, users often require an even lower bearing clearance. These requirements can often be met in customised products by carefully matching the iglidur material used with the wall thickness and length of the component, as well as the tolerances of the surrounding components.

Based on the material iglidur G2, which has been optimised for low moisture absorption, thermal expansion and processability, we can now offer a complete range of dimensions with reduced clearance. The new material joins the range of iglidur G materials and also offers good running performance on many different shafts in most areas of application with low to medium-high loads and low to medium speeds, especially with pivoting or rotating motion profiles.
