Plain plastic & spherical bearings for bikes

“Digital bikes” and “bikes as vehicles” are some of the trends that are of great importance in today’s bicycle world, with electrification also introducing new application potentials for bikes used in everyday life. This changes the demands of the components installed on the bike: impact and shock loads are exerted on the bearings used in the components while riding mountain bikes across uneven ground, whereas the e-bike is designed to cover the greatest possible range with one battery charge. To ensure the bike is lightweight, has a long service life and is low maintenance, self-lubricating iglide® plain bearings should be implemented. iglide® bearings made of high-performance plastics are low in cost, more wear resistant than metallic bearings, durable in extreme environmental conditions, characterized by low friction values, and they defy shocks and bumps. Overall, iglide® plain bearings provide savings in weight, maintenance and price.

Customer Applications:

Crank Brothers bike pedals

For their pedal bearings, the company Crank Brothers was looking for a solution. Resistance to dirt, a reduction in weight and a long service life were the main aspects. With our plain bearings made of the iglide JB material, the company was able to achieve an eight times longer service life and reduce the weight.
