Swarf-resistant energy chains for welding equipment on a pipe-laying vessel

The cables for the pipe-laying and welding equipment were to be routed inside this pipe-laying vessel. The platform, which is guided on rails, covers longer distances and required a continuous and fluid movement, which is supported by the cable routing. Due to the trade show welding work, however, the primary focus was on the absolute safety of the internal cables, which had to be protected from flying hot swarf.

Due to the welding work on the platform, an enclosed cable routing was the only option. To be more precise, the movement of the work surface is supported by an energy chain from the E4.1 series, designed as a fully enclosed e-tube system.
The special feature: the lightweight plastic energy chain can easily withstand the high temperatures of fast-moving chips, and the cables remain permanently protected. Smooth movement is also guaranteed thanks to the system's particularly good sliding properties. This advantage is particularly noticeable on the long travel distances of cranes travelling lengthways inside the ship.
