This deep drilling system drills holes to a depth of 6,000m largely automatically and is a "walking unit" that can even change its position. The handling system that feeds the drill pipes is supplied via E4.1 energy chains.

The long travels and the high cable weight on drilling rigs pose a challenge when it comes to cable guidance. Energy chain systems such as the E4.1 series or the e-loop are a proven alternative to conventional service loops.

On a multi-purpose tower from Huisman, a particularly robust plastic energy chain travels along a 40m track on a drilling vessel. As it moves vertically upwards, it is very exposed due to the strong wind on rough seas.

This 3000HP modular offshore drilling rig has the world's largest plastic e-chain installed on a cantilever and the drill floor. The energy chain was delivered pre-fitted, saving installation time and costs.

Energy chains from the E4.1 series are used to ensure that all cables for supplying the drill floor skid are carried safely on this drill ship. They are lightweight and can easily carry additional loads of 250kg/m and more.

This jack-up rig was equipped with our E4.1 e-chains from the 800 and E4.112 series with an extension link for high additional loads. The reverse energy chain principle for the cantilever and the sliding extension link chain on the drill floor reduce the installation space required for the system.

Energy chain systems are used, for example, when equipping the fingerboard or operating the top drive. They have to bear a heavy load from the numerous energy and data cables and hydraulic pipes.

The manufacturer was looking for the right cable guidance for a catwalk on a drilling vessel. They found what they were looking for in the plastic E4/4 energy chain system, which works robustly and durably at sea.

Our offshore energy chain for high tensile loads is used in the largest offshore drilling rig to date. A huge drill is lowered from the ship to the rock floor. The chain ensures a safe and stable energy supply for the drilling rig.

Inside this pipe-laying vessel, the cables for the pipe-laying and welding equipment are guided by swarf-resistant e-pipes. They prevent damage to the cables and allow safe movement, even over long travels.

Several robust energy chains from the E4.1 series were installed for the cable guidance to the pipe-laying tower and the tensioner on a pipe-laying vessel. As they were delivered in a pre-fitted state, the operator saved installation time and costs.

A rotary module with an internal energy chain is used to ensure cable guidance in a heavy-duty crane on a pipe-laying vessel. Interlocking e-chain allow for a particularly space-saving design.

For a riser-handling crane on a drilling vessel, our engineering team implemented a complete system consisting of energy supply, trough modules and chainflex cables - from design to final acceptance.

The A-frame from the company Ship & Yacht Engineering has pivoting kinematics that allow a 180° radius of motion. To minimise maintenance and keep the bearing points lubrication-free, the company relies on plastic bearings made of the igutex TX1 material.

A safe energy supply to the adjustable crane boom was needed for two sheerleg cranes. The challenges posed by the heavy-duty cranes were great: high cable weights of up to 45kg/m and long travels required a robust cable guidance for long-term use.
